2023 Ford Bronco for Sale
Usually, when a manufacturer shelves something, that’s the end of that product. Sometimes the remnants of that product are faithfully brought over to its successors, with portions recycled and reintroduced, but the product as you once remembered it is no more. That’s how many people saw the Ford Bronco for about a quarter-century before the vehicle’s triumphant return to the lineup with the introduction of the 2021 model.
It wasn’t a flash in the pan either; the Bronco has been a regular in Ford’s lineup since it was reintroduced to the masses, meaning fans of the brand have another choice of vehicle if looking for an off-roading machine. Whether you’ve owned one before its initial discontinuation, or if you’ve only heard about it or have a relative or friend who owned one, the 2023 Ford Bronco is another reminder of why we’re glad this off-roading SUV made its return when it did.
The 2023 Bronco is available in more trim levels than its two predecessors, adding one more to the list since last year. The 2023 has a starting MSRP of $34,595 for the base trim.[a] The Base, Big Bend, Outer Banks, Badlands, and Wildtrak all return from the two previous Bronco models, including the Everglades trim added on the 2022 iteration. The 2023 Bronco adds the Heritage Limited to the list—the highest-priced trim but also the most in-depth in its array of features, with the most notable being the inclusion of the Sasquatch Package. Off-roading enthusiasts will likely want to spring for the Heritage Limited, if not for the Sasquatch Package alone, with its superior shock absorbers and dampers combined with hearty 35-inch tires and both a front-and-rear locking differential. A beastly, root-routing build like this surely lives up to its name.

Power
Powering the 2023 Ford Bronco are the same two powertrain configurations seen on the two prior models. The engine and transmission that comes with entry-level Bronco models is the 2.3L EcoBoost Turbo I-4 engine—but instead of one, you’ll have two transmissions to choose between. Off-roaders may prefer the base engine because of its two transmission types: a seven-speed manual or a ten-speed automatic. Some drivers may not see the need to upgrade to the next engine because the turbocharged 2.3L I-4 engine is a strong performer in many ways.
With the base engine, the 2023 Bronco gets 300 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque, plus you’ll be towing with a capacity of 3,500 lbs. Both transmissions offer the same EPA-estimated ratings—a rare occurrence—with 20 MPG in the city and 21 MPG on the highway.[b] The Bronco’s off-roading intentions are clear from the start, as every Bronco model comes standard with 4WD; this is the ideal type of drivetrain for off-roading, providing the best stability on uneven terrain.
The Bronco’s larger engine option is a 2.7L EcoBoost Turbo V6 engine paired to the same ten-speed automatic transmission; no manual transmission is available for the V6. There’s a stark performance jump between the two engines, although the base engine is one of the more generous standard powertrains on the SUV market. With the V6 engine, the Bronco gets 330 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque—a 10% increase in horsepower and nearly 28% more torque. Its towing capacity, however, stays the same at 3,500 lbs. Its fuel efficiency is impressive for a V6, with an identical EPA-estimated 21 MPG on the highway and a slightly lower 19 MPG in the city. Performance is everything you’d want from an off-roading SUV in its price range; thanks to the base engine, you can guarantee any 2023 Bronco you look at will always produce a solid amount of horsepower.
Tech
An advantage the Ford Bronco had in returning in the 2020s was the opportunity to implement the best of modern technology. Ford got this correct right out of the gate, and many of the features first found in the returning 2021 Bronco have made their way over to the 2023 model. Off-roading features, in particular, are a highlight of the Bronco, with many amenities built for off-roading. Many of the Bronco’s other notable features are linked to Ford Co-Pilot360, which makes the Bronco a safer endeavor, even when you aren’t driving on the pavement. However, it’s especially useful in city and highway travel with features like Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, a 360-degree camera, and more.
The first feature that comes to mind when thinking about the Bronco’s off-roading capabilities is its 4×4 drivetrain, tow hooks, sway-bar disconnect, and transfer case, but what makes this vehicle exceptionally easier to drive is the Terrain Management System with GOAT modes. These “Go Over Any [type of] Terrain” modes are a built-in system that drivers can activate, with six available options depending on what type of surface you’re driving on. The six GOAT modes that come with the basic Bronco are Normal, Eco, Sport, Slippery, and Sand/Snow. Ford offers off-roading focused packages for its Bronco trims—four variants of the HOSS package, HOSS 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, and 4.0—the highest of which belongs to the costly yet super-performant Bronco Raptor. The features you’ll find throughout these packages include independent front suspensions, dampers, steel bash plates, and much more.
Every 2023 Bronco also comes with a SYNC 4 infotainment center. The SYNC 4 infotainment center is faster than the SYNC 3—a common system on the used market—and the Bronco has two versions you can choose from. The entry-level SYNC 4 system in the 2023 Bronco is a media center with an 8.0-inch screen. The regular variety of infotainment center software is here and accounted for, including but not limited to wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM radio, Bluetooth, and more. Pricier models include a 12.0-inch screen with new additions like voice recognition, allowing vocal commands to operate the integrated navigation software.
Space
The Bronco is also specifically crafted and engineered with off-roading in mind, evident by its 11.6-inch ground clearance, 29-degree break-over angle, and the 43.2- and 37.2-degree approach and departure angles, respectively. Basic Bronco models also allow for 33.5 inches of water wading—nearly three feet! Off-roading enthusiasts who want a taller SUV should consider a model like the Bronco Everglades with its slightly higher 11.7-inch ground clearance and improved 36.4 inches of water wading. For intensive action like off-roading, every little bit counts.
Your 2023 Bronco will come in either a two- or four-door configuration; these are removable, like the roof, should you want a better experience in the summertime. Both versions of the Bronco have excellent cargo space for their size. The two-door Bronco has a total of 52.3 cu.ft. of space when the back seats are folded and 23.6 cu.ft. with them upright. The four-door configuration is considerably larger, regardless of an identical passenger capacity. (Those two extra doors help considerably.) With the back seats folded down, the four-door 2023 Bronco has 77.6 cu.ft. of cargo space, or 48% more stowage space than the two-door model. Keeping these seats up keeps an impressive 35.6 cu.ft. of space available—nearly 51% more than the two-door variant with its seats up.
Interior dimensions for passengers may also differ depending on how many doors your Bronco has. With the two-door model, there are 41 inches of headroom in the front row with 43.1 inches of legroom, 56.3 inches of hip room, and 57.1 inches of shoulder room. The front row inside a four-door Bronco gets 40.8 inches of headroom with the hard top and 43.3 inches with the soft top, 43.1 inches of legroom, and 55.9 and 57.1 inches of hip and shoulder room, respectively.
Around the back to the second row, you’ll find 39.8 inches of headroom in the two-door model, while the four-door model gives backseat passengers either 40.1 or 41.1 inches of headroom depending on if you get the hard or soft top. The two-door Bronco also has 35.7 inches of legroom in the second row as opposed to a slightly increased 36.3 inches in the four-door model; the former also has 51.8 inches of shoulder room against the latter’s 56.5 inches. The hip room in the second row differs the greatest between the two models: the two-door Bronco gives passengers 43.3 inches of hip room while the four-door model offers 54.8 inches—a 26.5% increase.
