With a long history of strength and performance, the Ford F-150 has cemented its status as a pickup truck icon. The F-150 has seen considerable changes since its debut, continuously pushing the limits of automotive innovation. Through it all, Ford has outfitted the F-150 with a range of potent engines, from powerful V8 options to more fuel-efficient alternatives. These engines, along with the F-150’s towing and payload capacities, are just a few of the reasons the F-Series has been America’s top-selling truck for more than 45 years.

At Loganville Ford, we’re proud to stand behind the Ford name, giving drivers in our community the chance to own a pickup truck that continues to make a name for itself year after year. You can find the Ford F-150 for sale in a variety of trim levels. You’ll also find a knowledgeable and friendly sales team ready to help you navigate your options to find the right one for you. In the meantime, here’s a starting point to introduce you to the F-150, breaking down its engine options so you get a better picture of how this dynamic truck fits into your everyday life.

An Overview of the 2024 Ford F-150

First, let’s look at the 2024 Ford F-150 overall. This truck, in its 14th generation, offers a few new trim levels and technology tweaks that take it to the next level. For instance, the base XL keeps your favorite apps easily accessible with the help of a 12.0-inch capacitive touchscreen with swipe technology. It backs that up with 5G LTE Wi-Fi connectivity for up to ten devices. Toward the higher end of the trim levels, you’ll find the new Platinum Plus trim. This trim is a bump up from the standard Platinum trim, which still provides more luxury than you could imagine in a truck that can also haul up to 13,500 lbs when properly equipped.

Along with new trim options and updated technology, the Ford F-150 continues to offer a solid lineup of safety features for you and your passengers, including the availability of the Ford BlueCruise, letting you enjoy the road even more with the assistance of hands-free driving. Not to be outdone, you’ll also gain added convenience when you need it most with the available Pro Power Onboard feature that offers up to 7.2 kW of power. Additionally, you’ll love the ease of unloading and loading with the help of the available Pro Access tailgate.

Still, the most interesting addition to the new Ford F-150 might be the switch to the 2.7L twin-turbo engine being the new standard, giving all other trucks in its class a run for their money. Or maybe the most interesting thing is the 3.5L PowerBoost Hybrid V6? Keep reading to learn more…

The 2024 Ford F-150’s Engine Options

The 2024 Ford F-150 gives you six engine options to choose from. Two of these are only available for the Raptor trim. Each of the engine options is detailed below. We’ll start with the new standard option, which isn’t new at all but does offer increased power and performance over the previous standard engine.

2.7L EcoBoost Turbo V6

This engine provides you with 325 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. It is designed using Ford’s port-fuel and direct-injection system (PFDI). This system, more commonly known as EcoBoost, provides greater efficiency and a smooth drive. Essentially, a port fuel injection system injects fuel into the engine cylinders’ intake ports prior to the intake stroke. This enables a more uniform dispersion of the fuel and air combination in the combustion chamber. For the direct-inject part of the equation, fuel is injected directly into each cylinder’s combustion chamber. This improves fuel atomization and offers more control over fuel supply.

Ford’s EcoBoost system combines direct injection with port fuel injection to maximize the advantages of each technology. The system primarily uses port fuel injection to improve fuel atomization and combustion under low- to mid-load circumstances. Direct injection provides more power and efficiency in high-load scenarios. This engine also offers Auto Start-Stop, which increases fuel efficiency even more.

The 2.7L EcoBoost Turbo V6 is available in the XL, XLT, and Lariat trims.

3.5L EcoBoost Turbo V6

Like the standard option, the 3.5L V6 provides you with EcoBoost technology. It also gives you up to 400 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque. It also gives you a best-in-class tow rating of up to 13,500 lbs when appropriately equipped. Additionally, the intercooled twin-turbo aspect gives you on-demand power with no lag, meaning you feel the power from the start. This gives you confidence when using your truck to haul ATVs or when picking up landscaping supplies and equipment from Lowe’s.

5.0L Ti-VCT V8

The third engine option is the 5.0L Ti-VCT V8. It offers 400 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque thanks to the Twin Independent Variable Cam Timing, which is what Ti-VCT stands for. Simply put, when equipped with this engine option, both the intake and exhaust camshafts can have their timing independently adjusted; this is different than in a conventional engine with a fixed camshaft that opens and closes at predetermined intervals during the engine cycle.

Since Ti-VCT makes it possible to modify camshaft timing in response to load, engine speed, and driving circumstances, you get better emissions performance, fuel efficiency, and power delivery.

3.5L High-Output EcoBoost V6

This 3.5L Twin-Turbo High-Output EcoBoost V6 engine is only available in the Raptor trim. It is designed to improve power and torque delivery, which benefits the Raptor’s off-road and on-road capabilities. However, it’s not just for off-road adventures; it strikes a balance between power and efficiency, making it a strong option for everyday driving as well. This is thanks, in part, to its EcoBoost technology. Additionally, you’ll find the engine offers 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque.

If off-roading is something you frequently enjoy, you might also consider boosting your power by choosing the 5.2L High-Output Supercharged V8. It is available on the Raptor and standard on the upcoming Raptor R.

3.5L PowerBoost Turbo V6 HEV

With the backing of the Ford name, this Raptor-exclusive engine provides you with the range and power you require. It also offers class-exclusive advanced technology, which improves power and performance even more. Even better? You get 430 hp and 570 lb-ft of torque. When you put it all together, you realize quickly that this powerhouse pickup truck might just give you everything you want and a few things you didn’t realize you needed.

Wondering how far you can go with the 3.5L PowerBoost Turbo V6 HEV under the hood? The estimated range for the truck gives you up to 700 miles per tank. That means you can go from Loganville to Philadelphia and never stop for gas.
