Ford trucks have been shaking up the marketplace for over a century, because Ford has always been at the forefront of truck design, innovation, and manufacturing. For example, Ford took the trucking the world by storm with the introduction of the F-Series back in 1948, giving drivers a full-size half-ton truck built to get the job done right—and looking good while doing it.

Last year, another significant movement befell your hometown Ford truck dealer with the introduction of the Maverick, a compact truck harkening back to the days of the ’60s and ’70s when these little flatbeds were overtaking the automotive world. The 2022 Maverick came with a front-wheel drivetrain and a standard hybrid engine. Despite its diminutive size, the Maverick packs quite a punch with a standard crew cab providing plenty of space for up to five passengers.

If the introduction of the Maverick had caused a shakeup in the marketplace, then Ford’s most recent announcement is an earthquake. The 2023 Ford Maverick will give drivers the option of adding one of two Tremor packages to take this compact truck off the road and onto the trail. At Loganville Ford, we are excited to offer you the new Ford Maverick—the next revolution in compact trucks, and the reason you’ll be making your next visit.

A Tectonic Shift We All Should Have Seen Coming

Sometimes, change comes out of the sky like a bolt from the blue. No one expected it, and there was nothing to prepare us for what had happened. Such is not the case with the 2023 Maverick Tremor, as Ford has been signaling for a long time that it was not content to rest on its laurels as the top truck builder in America. Among other things it has done in recent years, it brought back the midsize Ranger and introduced the compact Maverick.

Ford has also shown that it wants to give drivers as many different capabilities as possible, hence why it offers three different sizes of its Super Duty trucks—the F-250, F-350, and F-450. This is also why it offers special versions of the F-150, like the high-performance F-150 Raptor and the all-electric Lightning. Honestly, we should have seen the Maverick Tremor coming. Ford already offered the Tremor as a trim level on the F-150 and has started offering a Tremor special package on the Ranger, so it only made sense that the Maverick would get its own Tremor package.

The Tremor Will Rock Your World

If you opt for the Tremor Package on your 2023 Maverick, the whole world will know you have an off-road capable compact truck. This is because the Maverick features specialized graphics on the cargo bed, as well as orange accents on the exterior paint, to really make things shine. This includes orange front tow hooks and an orange stripe on the front grille, with a set of smoked glass headlights and taillights. However, the Tremor Package is not just about looks—it’s about performance.

The alterations to the standard Maverick model start with a one-inch factory lift, giving the Maverick 9.4 inches of ground clearance—almost one more inch than on the regular model. This improves the approach angle on the Maverick from a pedestrian 21.6 degrees to an impressive 30.7 degrees. This will also give you better off-road capabilities, especially when dealing with obstacles like rocks, logs, and ruts.

An off-road truck also needs protection. Ford provides this on the Maverick Tremor with a set of steel skid plates strategically placed throughout the truck’s undercarriage to protect key points. This will give you peace of mind that you won’t do any damage to your Maverick Tremor to cause problems down the road or while out on the trail.

The Maverick Tremor has a specialized off-road-tuned suspension and standard four-wheel drive; its shocks are designed to handle the uneven terrain of the trail while still providing a smooth ride. It also includes a torque-vectoring rear differential, which can transmit torque independently between the truck’s rear wheels. The transmission has been given several specialized selectable drive modes, including sand, rock crawl, and mud/ruts. This shows that Ford didn’t just use a standard 4X4 drivetrain but went beyond to give you the specialized performance you need to tackle distinct off-road conditions.

Ford has given the 2023 Maverick Tremor a set of 17-inch aluminum wheels featuring the Tremor orange color with a dark gray anodized finish on the inserts. These come wrapped with Falken Wildpeak all-terrain tires, giving the Maverick Tremor exceptional grip on and off the road.

An Extra Package to Cause a Rumble

If that isn’t enough for you, you can spring for the available Tremor Off-Road Plus Appearance Package. This adds certain carbonized gray trims along the exterior of your Maverick Tremor and includes graphics on the roof, hood, door handles, side mirrors, and lower door. This package’s looks match well with the Tremor orange that will already be on your truck, and it will also help your Maverick Tremor stand out from the rest of the herd. Choosing this package will put the finishing touches on an already exceptional off-road compact truck.

It Takes Two Trims to Tremor

Ford offers the Tremor packages on two trims of the 2023 Maverick—the XLT and the LARIAT with four-wheel drive. These models feature the available 2.0L EcoBoost I-4 gas engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Their engine has a dual overhead camshaft configuration with Ti-VCT, which alters the timing of the intake and outtake camshafts on the Maverick’s engine, providing for more efficient performance. This engine also features a turbocharger to boost performance without harming fuel economy. As a result, this engine can get up to 250 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque through gasoline turbocharged direct injection.

This is a very powerful engine for a vehicle of the Maverick’s size. As a result, the 2023 Maverick with the Tremor package can go from zero to sixty in a blistering 6.0 seconds, with a top speed of 109 mph. The Maverick Tremor has even been clocked doing the quarter-mile stretch in 14.7 seconds, maxing at an impressive 92 mph.

Despite this outstanding performance, the Maverick Tremor still provides solid fuel economy. Even with all-wheel drive, you still get up to 24 MPG in combined fuel economy with this truck. It can even tow up to 4,000 lbs while hauling 1,500 lbs in its payload bed, which can fit 33.3 cu.ft. of cargo.

If you are deciding between the XLT and LARIAT as the models for your Maverick Tremor, here are a few differences. The XLT model features cloth seats with a Navy Pier and Medium Slate interior color. The driver’s seat is manual six-way adjustable, while the front passenger seat is four-way adjustable. The LARIAT’s seats are trimmed with ActiveX in a Desert Brown color—a form of patent leather. The front driver’s seat is eight-way power-adjustable, while the front passenger has a six-way manual adjustable seat. Both have the Ford infotainment system with an eight-inch LCD touchscreen. However, if you opt for the LARIAT trim, a B&O premium audio system with eight speakers becomes an available option, as does a wireless charging pad.
