2024 Ford Maverick

Finding a truck that combines the agility and maneuverability of a car or SUV and the capability and performance of a truck might seem nearly impossible—that is, until you read about the 2024 Ford Maverick. One of the very few of its kind, the Ford Maverick is actually in a league all its own; this compact pickup might be smaller than your typical full-size truck, but it is larger than most in spirit.

The Maverick has been around for some time now but not in the form we see today. The Ford Maverick was once a car—and a rather good-looking one at that. Fast-forward to today, and although the Ford Maverick looks nothing like its car ancestor, it is still the Maverick at heart. Offering the utility of a “ute” and the comfort and efficiency of a car, the Maverick pickup is making waves.

Available in three trims—the XL, XLT, and Lariat—there is a flavor for all tastes. The XL is primed and ready to get to work, ideal for those who don’t need fluff. The XLT is the just right type of truck, with a well-balanced offering for those who work hard and relax just the same. The last is the Lariat, designed for those who like to eat their cake and have it too. Whichever way you drive, the Maverick is sure to get you there just the way you like.

Performance

The Maverick has a new standard engine, one that boasts equal parts power and efficiency. All three trims come standard with a 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine—one of Ford’s great contributions to the auto industry. Ford’s EcoBoost technology utilizes several performance-enhancing and fuel-saving systems, providing the best of both worlds. EcoBoost engines are equipped with turbochargers, consolidating the engine’s design, which means it weighs less and is also more fuel-efficient. Turbos also offer extra power than normal engines, which can be deceiving at first glance, considering their smaller size.

Also supporting the dualities of the engine is direct injection, a technique that does exactly what it says it does with impressive outcomes. By injecting the fuel directly into the compression chamber of the engine, there is minimal fuel loss, improving efficiency and performance. Lastly, the EcoBoost is designed with Variable Camshaft Timing, which lets the valve timing match the needs of the vehicle. This results in improved fuel efficiency and improved power across the power band, specifically at lower ranges. The resulting output of the 2.0-liter EcoBoost is 250 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque.

If efficiency is your jam, then consider the available Hybrid system, which pairs a 2.5-liter hybrid engine with a CVT, otherwise known as a Continuously Variable Transmission. Often referred to as a “step-less” transmission, CVTs use pulleys to adjust output so you have a broader range and a smoother transition as you drive. There are many benefits to CVTs, and performance and efficiency are just a few.

The Maverick comes standard as front-wheel drive, a feature that can actually lead to improved performance. Since in practically every traditional gas-powered vehicle the engine is found in the front of the vehicle, the added weight can help the tires with traction. This means improved maneuvering and grip when road conditions change. It can also improve stability, helping the Maverick keep on the straight and narrow.

If the benefits of front-wheel drive don’t quite get your engine revving, then have no fear; the Maverick is also available with all-wheel drive. If you plan on towing, hauling, or off-roading, the all-wheel drive might be the better bet for your needs. All-wheel drive has plenty of benefits and can come in handy when the weather gets rough or the road turns bumpy. It is important to note that if you have your eyes set on all-wheel drive, it can only be paired with the EcoBoost engine.

Capability

When you own a truck—more specifically, the right kind of truck—your capability increases tenfold. Whether you are looking to haul tools to the job site or you are in need of a vehicle that can handle a bit of towing, the Maverick is your ideal truck. Each arrangement, setup, and configuration offers its own unique capabilities; finding the right one is all it takes to unlock yours.

If towing is on the agenda, then you are in good hands with the Maverick’s available 2,000-lb towing capacity. Hook up your boat for some fishing or hit the road for some camping in style, knowing the Maverick can take on whatever comes its way. The Maverick can be equipped with the available 4K Tow Package for a boost in towing capacity that will expand your towing flexibility. All-wheel drive and the EcoBoost engine work together to create the ideal setting for towing so you can get the job done.

Hauling is another option with the Maverick, utilizing its spacious bed that can be customized to fit the demands of your day. The hybrid option can haul up to 1,500 lbs, and with plenty of storage options, you can haul an assortment of goods. Ford’s multi-position tailgate makes it easier to haul an array of items by redefining the traditional tailgate. As its name indicates, the multi-position tailgate can be configured to accommodate unusually shaped items, excessively long items, and so on. The tailgate can even provide a portable workspace for the go-getter on the go.

The cargo bed comes with six standard tie-downs, so securing your goods is easy and safe. For added security, the bed can be equipped with up to ten tie-downs and an assortment of other creative storage solutions. Two standard 12-volt pre-wired leads in the Maverick’s truck bed let you power a variety of tools and even recreational items like a small TV. Imagine camping with a mini-fridge within reach to keep those beverages extra cold on a hot summer night! The Maverick can even be equipped with two outlets for even more power options.

Interior

The 2024 Maverick is offered in three trim levels, starting with the base XL. All three trim levels provide ample and spacious seating for up to five, so no one gets left behind. As the entry-level trim, the XL offers the basics—enough to make your drive one to enjoy without the extra fluff that some have no need for. The interior is wrapped in Medium Dark Slate and a contrasting Black Onyx for a dramatic and bold interior.

The XL has six adjustments for the driver—including lumbar support—for added comfort during those long drives. The front passenger gets to enjoy four adjustments, with both seats sporting manual mode. The XLT—the next trim option—offers the same manual adjustments for customizable comfort but with a unique interior finish. The Black Onyx palette is swapped out for Navy Pier and an exciting orange accent whose stitching and swatches round out this one-of-a-kind interior.

The Lariat is the premium and final trim of the lineup, adding extras for those who crave them. A rugged Desert Brown adorns the interior, decked out in synthetic leather dubbed “ActiveX.” This is considerably great because of its easy-to-clean attributes and stylish finish. The seats even get an upgrade, with an eight-way power adjustable driver seat and a six-way manual adjustment for the guest in the front. All three trims offer a full bench seat in the rear with flip-up cushions that expose hidden storage to keep the cabin neat and tidy.

For even more comfort, the XLT provides an option to add heated seats and a heated steering wheel for combating the cold. The Lariat takes it a step further by including both of these features as standard. Comfort is key in the 2024 Ford Maverick!

An 8.0-inch touchscreen sits front and center, acting as the command center of your adventures. All trims include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto—a necessity in this day and age. Connecting your compatible smart device is a piece of cake and makes integrating your life and your truck easy. Other features, such as Bluetooth and Voice Control, will have you thrilled to get behind the wheel.
