2024 Ford F-150
Lots of new tech, new features, and refinements help define the fully refreshed 2024 Ford F-150. This long-running nameplate that dates back decades—and happens to be one of the best-selling vehicles in the nation—boasts lots of optional features, improved performance, and more capability than ever before. If you were ever interested in buying an F-150, the 2024 iteration is as perfect an opportunity as any to get in on this highly regarded brand’s top performer.
The powertrain lineup has been overhauled for 2024, with the new base power plant being the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6. Additionally, the utility of the F-150 has been greatly improved with the all-new Pro Access Tailgate. All new tech features include Ford’s BlueCruise semi-autonomous hands-free driving, as well as more inclusion of the 12.0-inch HD touchscreen across the trim line. It’ll be a lot easier to locate your truck if it’s gone AWOL thanks to the all-new Ford Stolen Vehicle Services, which includes alerts and updates for those who opt-in to the new FordPass feature.
The 2024 F-150 has also received some slight updates to its exterior appearance, with a refined front fascia and lighting array, along with all-new wheel designs. These changes have also extended into enthusiast trims like the off-road-focused Tremor, which now includes an all-new front fascia consisting of a redesigned bumper and grille. The Tremor is joined by six other trims for this model year—the XL, STX, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum—and you can also get the F-150 in three different cab sizes and three different bed sizes, including a Regular Cab with two doors, the SuperCab with two doors and half doors on each side, and the SuperCrew, which comes in a four-door configuration. The bed sizes include a short bed, a standard bed, and a long bed.

Performance
There are five powertrains available across the trim lineup, with rear-wheel and four-wheel drivetrain options. The F-150’s new base engine is the 2.7-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6, which replaces the outgoing 3.3-liter V6. The 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 manages 325 hp at 400 lb-ft of torque. There is the 5.0-liter Coyote V8, which makes 400 hp at 410 lb-ft of torque, giving you more power and torque for off-the-line performance and towing capabilities compared to the EcoBoost V6.
There is also the 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6. This larger displacement engine is more refined and offers higher performance ceilings, topping out at 400 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque. A higher-output version of this engine delivers 450 hp at 510 lb-ft of torque, so you can get more out of the towing and trailering capabilities of the F-150. For hybrid versions of the F-150, there is the 3.5-liter twin-turbo PowerBoost V6, which gives you 430 hp at 570 lb-ft of torque. Every available powertrain for the F-150 is attached to a ten-speed automatic transmission.
With auto start-stop technology standard across the trim line, you get improved fuel efficiency from your F-150, which means much greater travel distances and more long-range capabilities. In fact, the 2024 F-150 offers an estimated fuel economy of up to 20 MPG in the city and up to 26 MPG on the highway without relying on a diesel powertrain; this is great for those who want to rely on traditional gasoline to keep their light-duty truck filled and to get great mileage for everything from daily work needs to daily errands.
Features like Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control give you a lot of versatility in maintaining control over the F-150, whether it’s loaded up or not. Combined with the available drive modes—Normal, Eco, Sport, Tow/Haul, Slippery, Deep Snow/Sand, and Mud/Rut—you have further control over how the vehicle handles based on road and weather conditions. These features coincide with stability management systems like AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control. Additionally, there is curve control to help electronically stabilize the F-150, even when fully loaded with a trailer and cargo; this enables seamless handling while moderating the vehicle’s speed to ensure maximum stability, even while traveling around sharp bends.
Capabilities
One of the biggest selling points for the 2024 Ford F-150 is its capabilities. Boasting more standard features and improved available features make this year’s F-150 one of the best light-duty choices on the market for truckers. This includes a maximum towing and trailering capacity of up to 13,500 lbs and a payload rating of 2,445 lbs when properly equipped.
The trailering and payload capabilities are complimented by tech like Onboard Scales with Smart Hitch functionality, which enables you to get your vehicle weight ratings and feedback on payload via the infotainment system inside the cabin, so you know when you’re below, at, or exceeding the limits of your truck’s capabilities. This is perfect for those who regularly do a lot of towing and trailering—and likewise for those who often haul, whether you’re using the short five-foot, five-inch bed with 52.8 cu.ft. of cargo volume, the standard six-foot, five-inch bed with 62.3 cu.ft. of cargo volume, or the eight-foot bed with 77.4 cu.ft. of cargo volume.
You also have trailering apps and the availability of a 360-degree camera that enables you to easily align and hitch your F-150 to your trailer. Thanks to features like Pro Trailer Backup Assist and Trailer Reverse Guidance, you can cleanly and efficiently align this truck to your trailer and hitch it with ease. This also works well with driving and parking your vehicle while hitched to a trailer, giving you confidence when traveling and parking while carting thousands of pounds on the back of the F-150.
Other utility features for the F-150 include Pro Power Onboard, which gives you three different levels of mobile power functionality depending on the equipment you’ve attached to your F-150. These are a 2.0-kW option (great for powering small lights and electronics), a 2.4-kW option (which provides you with more power for slightly more power-hungry devices), and a 7.2-kW option (so that you can utilize heavy-duty power tools, equipment, and area flood lights for your mobile work station).
The added functionality of the Pro Access Tailgate also extends the utility of the F-150’s bed box, enabling you to open the tailgate sideways by up to 100 degrees for easy access into the bed without folding down the entire gate. You can also use the fold-down tailgate step to easily get into the cargo box, and you can use the work surface indentations for measuring, keeping tools in place, and quickly getting work done.
Comfort
Having a truck that can do a lot of work is great, but it’s also important that the vehicle can provide you with a great deal of comfort and convenience. If you’re spending a lot of time sitting in your truck, traveling long distances while trailering heavy goods or hauling heavy material, your comfort is essential. With the 2024 F-150, there are a number of comfort features that drivers and passengers will appreciate, such as the ten-way power driver’s seat and a multi-adjustable front passenger seat. The F-150 can seat up to six people across two rows in a SuberCab or SuperCrew configuration.
Your seats also have lumbar support and multiple material options to give you the best possible comfort levels. Your upholstery options include cloth seats with high-quality material quality, which is durable and ergonomic. There is also the availability of heated and ventilated leather seats for those who want a bit of luxury out of their trucking experience. Dual-zone automatic climate control, power windows, power locks, and features like heated steering also make the journey so much more convenient and relaxed compared to other pickups.
There are multiple storage compartments, so you don’t have to carry all your essentials in your lap. Large cup holders, an interior work surface, and a lockable fold-flat storage compartment mean you get more room to stretch your legs than worry about having to deal with clutter inside your cabin. Other convenience features like the availability of wireless charging, integrated support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with app access, and vehicle health information available on the 12.0-inch HD touchscreen also mean you have a lot of tech features at your fingertips.
In addition to all of the great driver assistance features available in the Ford Co-Pilot360 suite, there are also lots of great connectivity features available, like the FordPass Wi-Fi hotspot, navigation support, and voice recognition via SYNC technology. Even better yet is the hands-free semi-autonomous driving tool known as BlueCruise 1.2, which enables you to sit back and relax as the F-150 does most of the driving on thousands of miles of compatible roads across North America.
