2024 Ford Edge
The Ford Edge has been the Blue Oval’s go-to midsize crossover SUV since 2006. This model has cornered the market for those looking for something larger than a standard compact like the Escape but something palpably smaller than the Explorer. The Edge battles other notable segment entries like the Chevy Blazer, Kia Sorento, and Honda Pilot; to clinch the war in 2024, the Edge received some interesting updates, including a revision on the connected services, with the Ford Streaming subscription being buffed from one month to one year; this gives you mobile access to YouTube, Alexa, and some NBC apps.
Additionally, the 2024 Ford Edge carries over its feature set from the previous model year; this means you get access to the ST Appearance Package, which includes leather-trimmed seats with Miko inserts and Race Red and Raptor Blue accent stitching as well as a perforated leather steering wheel with Race Red and Blue Stitching with the ST logo in the center. Additionally, the perimeter alarm was made standard on the ST, and the grille was updated for the SE and SEL with an Iconic Silver Honeycomb with a chrome surround grille.
Like previous model years, you have multiple trims to choose from, as well as appearance and equipment packages to add additional functionality and features. The trim line includes five levels, starting with the base SE, the SEL, the performance ST-Line, the high-end Titanium, and the high-performance ST. You can get your 2024 Edge in one of nine colors: Star White, Rapid Red, Forged Green Metallic, Iconic Silver Metallic, Stone Blue, Carbonized Gray Metallic, Burgundy Velvet, Atlas Blue, and Agate Black Metallic.

Capability
With midsize SUVs, capacity can be a complex issue, even though this is the prime selling point of the segment. Midsize SUVs need to be more spacious than their smaller counterparts but not so large and unwieldy as three-row and full-size SUVs; it’s a fine balancing act that engineers have to maintain to provide competitive interior space, utility, and convenience, all without sacrificing the design or the size of the vehicle. The 2024 Edge manages to hit these marks with a swaggering stride.
With room for up to five people across two rows, the Edge provides you with comfortable seating via two front bucket seats and a foldable split bench in the rear that seats three. Its cabin nets you a total passenger volume of 113.9 cu.ft. of space, giving you plenty of hip, shoulder, head, and legroom across both rows. You also have ample storage space, with 39.2 cu.ft. behind the second row, where you can store your goods in the rear—itself easily accessible via the hands-free power tailgate. However, if you want to make further use of the interior cargo capacity of the Edge, you can fold down the rear row for up to 73.4 cu.ft. of total cargo volume.
The Edge also offers great utilitarian functionality, with rear cargo dividers and available roof rail slides, which are perfect for when you need your vehicle for an outdoor trip or camping vacation. You can even tow up to 3,500 lbs with the Edge, so if you have a separate cargo trailer, it’s perfect for hauling along your goods, toys, camper, or another vehicle. Inside, you also have additional storage compartments such as a front console with storage, storage trays, multiple cup holders, a sunglasses holder, grab handles, and seat-back map pockets, so there’s plenty of space to keep your trinkets secure.
Performance
Part of the Ford Edge’s selling point is as a performance-driven vehicle. In this segment, the Edge offers a considerable degree of power to zip in and out of traffic, and yet its powertrain isn’t so demanding that it becomes a gas guzzler like larger SUVs; this is the benefit of opting for a midsize SUV like the Edge because it’s that perfect mix of power, performance, and fuel efficiency all in one. You have two engine options, generally split between trim levels.
If you need a reliable daily driver, then the 2.0-liter EcoBoost turbocharged inline four-cylinder will provide you with 250 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque; its eight-speed automatic transmission helps ensure you get smooth shifting out of the Edge, which makes it a very easy-to-handle vehicle on the road when it comes to getting off the line and maintaining acceleration. You also have a maximum fuel economy of 21 MPG in the city and up to 28 MPG on the highway in all-wheel drive.
However, if you really want to push the Edge to its limits, the ST trim is entirely performance-driven, paired with the powerful 2.7-liter EcoBoost twin-turbocharged V6, which nets you an impressive 335 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque. This power plant is paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission, and you can use the rotary shift dial to get the most out of the Edge’s performance ceiling.
You also have embedded technologies like the AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control and Curve Control that come standard across the trim line; these enable drivers to maintain complete control over the vehicle, having smooth handling during turns, appropriate acceleration off the line, and the ability to drive through just about any type of weather conditions thanks to intelligent all-wheel drive.
Convenience
Convenience is a huge factor in the SUV segment, and Ford has prioritized convenience for the Edge in a number of ways. This includes available ActiveX seating material with an eight-way power front driver seat and a four-way power front passenger seat. Alternatively, you can opt for unique cloth seats if that’s what you prefer. Heated front seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and reclining front bucket seats all help add to the comfort and convenience of the Edge.
Power locks and windows, along with auto-locking features, make the Edge a safe and secure vehicle, and this is elevated by available features like intelligent access with push-button start. There is also the availability of a remote start and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Other convenience factors include perimeter alarms, interior lighting, and the SecuriLock passive anti-theft system.
When it comes to safety, the MyKey feature is standard on all Edge trims, enabling you to program driving modes, such as with Belt-Minder, top-speed restrictions, and screened radio content, which is great for when you have a teen driver and want to limit and monitor their driving habits. With the Ford Co-Pilot360 suite, you have features like the SOS Post-Crash Alert and collision mitigation systems, which include BLIS with blind-spot monitoring and cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assistance, and available evasive steering, ensuring that everything possible is done to prevent crashes in the first place.
There are even navigation systems and driving convenience features, such as adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality and automatic lane-centering assist. The connected built-in navigation suite is available with a three-year subscription, and it includes live traffic reports, predictive destinations, and route guidance.
You can enjoy your favorite tunes and media during your journeys using the Ford SYNC 4A infotainment suite, interfaced via a 12.0-inch touchscreen with integrated support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You even have SiriusXM features, FordPass Connect with 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot compatibility, and the availability of wireless smartphone charging, which is excellent for helping you stay connected.
